Independent Research is a neat opportunity, it varies by instructor. If I supervise your independent research, I likely will have you work on an existing project. If you are interested, simply talk to me about your ideas. If we can agree on what you will do, you fill out an application and register for credit for the next semester. Once that semester starts, we find a weekly meeting time that works for us both to discuss the research. You will have assignments outside of the meeting time as well.

Participating in PSY 450 helps you get a sense of what the research process is like. And you will likely get to present your research, which is an important thing to do if you want to go to graduate school. It not only is an important accomplishment for your resume, but a great way to get to know who is doing research that you are interested in. Then you can get to meet them at the conference. MWSU has funds to pay for the travel. Traveling can be fun too, getting to see a new place!
