Linear Ordering in Web Usage Mining References
The following table ranks the 50 most visited web pages at Missouri Western (on 6 November 2005) according to a Linear Ordering algorithm that maximizes the order in which web pages were served on that day. For example, most people visited the top 10 web sites prior to visiting one of the bottom 10. A concept highlighted by the Linear Ordering approach is that the Hubs are near the top of the order and the References are near the bottom. A Hub is a page that people visit to get to the page they are looking for (the Reference page). Note: pages with more hits are not necessarily ranked higher than those with lower hits, the key point is that visitors went from one page to another -- and this ranking of which page is visited before another is the one that the majority of people would agree with.
