Below are my comments on the student evaluation of my courses in Sp 08.

MGT 431, Management Science
My best evaluation was an average 1.94 for preparation and organization, the worst was 2.76 for clear and understandable presentation of the material.  The material can be difficult and the majority of students have never been exposed to Excel Solver, PivotTables, Goal Seek or other advanced features of Excel.  Many students are lacking basic Excel skills, such as how to add numbers together.  I continue to work on making the difficult material understandable without "dumbing it down" to the point it is another MGT 201 course.

The overall average for the 17 students responding was 2.23 with a standard deviation of 1.09, meaning the 95% confidence interval for the true mean is 2.23 +/- 0.52 in other words, using this sample as a predictor for future evaluations, future means will be between 1.71 and 2.75, which is not statistically different from the School of Business average of 1.88.

MGT 418, Management Information Systems
My best evaluation was for an average 2.06 for preparation and organization, the worst was 2.88 for clear and understandable presentation of the material.  The material can be difficult and although many students are tech-savvy, the material is often new to them.  I continue to work on making the difficult material understandable without "dumbing it down."

The overall average for the 17 students responding was 2.41 with a standard deviation of 1.17, meaning the 95% confidence interval for the true mean is 2.41 +/- 0.56, in other words, if we repeated the measurement multiple times, the true average mean is probably somewhere between 1.86 to 2.97, which also means that there is no statistical difference between this mean and the School of Business mean.
