Research

Current and past courses taught at MWSU include Medical and Public Health Microbiology, Principles of Biology, and Immunology.

My primary areas of research include science education and pedagogy, and intestinal inflammation and cell-cell interactions.  Click here to read more about my research interests and projects with undergraduates.

Previous teaching experience and training

I received my PhD in Physiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after completing my dissertation research on the actions of two hormones, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-I, in intestinal physiology and inflammation.  My postdoctoral training included both research and teaching experience as a fellow in the Seeding Postdoctoral Innovators in Research and Education (SPIRE) program at UNC.  Syllabi of courses that I taught during my SPIRE fellowship are available here.
