Please remember this is only a guide and shouldn't serve as a substitution for reading the chapters.
1. Walking Equation [3.5 + (speed in meters/min x .1) + (% grade x speed in meters/min x 1.8)]
2. Running Equation [ 3.5 + (speed in meters/min x .2) + (% grade x speed in meters/min x .9)
3. Cycling Equation [ 3.5 + (1.8 x work load in kgs/ the individuals weight) + 7]
4. Stepping [3.5 + (.2 x frequency of steps) + (1.33x 1.8 x Height of steps in meters x frequency of steps)]
5. Know all aspects about blood pressure. Ex. Sounds, numbers, protocol, Stages of Hypertension, rate of mmHg drop, reason for possible errors.
6. Know ACSM risk stratifications for exercise.Ex. Family History, Smoking...
7. Initial ACSM Risk Stratification. Ex. Low Risk, Moderate Risk, and High Risk. Who needs medical clearance. Is age a factor with all three of these classifications?
8. Know the major risk factors for CAD.
9. Know the recommended LDL, HDL and Triglyceride levels.
10. Know the Astrand-Rhyming protocol. You don't have to know it step by step but be able to identify this protocol. Remember this is a submaximal test.
11. Par-Q and AHA. What are these and what is their function.
12. Test termination criteria.
13. Know the RPE or Borg scale.
14. Be able to discuss advantages or disadvantages of different tests.
15. Know RELATIVE contraindications to exercise testing AND ABSOLUTE contraindications to exercise testing.
16. Know your BMI #'s and the W/H numbers.
