The Aschermann Measure of Self-Confidence

The Aschermann Measure of Self-Confidence has not undergone any rigorous scientific study.  It does seem, however, that over the years it has been noticed that  females who have clean hair have a high degree of self-confidence.  A female with hair that is continually dirty or with body oil seems to be one who does not project any degree of self-confidence.

Dirty hair can come about for a variety of reasons:  no self motivation to keep clean, lack of facilities to shampoo hair on a regular basis, no time to create a weekly hair washing, no money to purchase shampoo.

While Russia is not a third world nation, personal bathing facilities are not as well developed as in the U.S.  A woman in Russia must make a greater effort to wash hair.

Throughout the time in Russia few females were seen with dirty hair.  In fact, not only do a large number of Russian women, they also have used hair coloring of a variety of colors [usually red].

When riding on the subway hair condition was something that I always looked at.  Unfortunately, purposely pointing a camera at a female's head can cause some major problems.  The photos below illustrate how these females did keep their hair.  Each is a candidate shot.

[Note that on many occasions when a photo was taken the wind was blowing and/or we had been off and on a bus all day long.  So, "non-combed hair" should not be used to formulate a judgment.]

An added observation after seeing hundreds of Russian women on the streets and on the subways---  Russian women are very well dressed in stylish clothing.

Remember the disclaimer--- I only saw in great numbers women in Moscow and some in St. Petersburg.  What was seen in Moscow may not be true elsewhere in the country.
