Technology for World Geography

Today geography is not unlike any other discipline or study.  A wealth of technology or software is available to help the learner.  Following is a description of two of the technology pieces that will be used with Geography 100, Section 3.

Use the publisher's WebSite to help you with each chapter.  Go to   Diversity Amid Globalization WWW Site   Open the page and scroll down to the bottom.  Here will be a pop-up table of contents for each chapter.  Click on the region you are interested in today.  The syllabus page also has hyperlinks to the various publisher website chapters.

The intro page for each chapter will list the intended purpose or objectives of the chapter.  Be sure to read this as an intro to the chapter--- this will give you an over view or a map that will help you better understand where you are going.

Notice also on the top left corner of the page for each chapter will be sample test questions, on-line study guide, virtual field trips and country-by-country data.  It is probably reasonable to assume that some of the exam questions will come from the sample test questions.

Click on the name of the country on the map for the country data.  Keep in mind that as with all websites, what might be viewable today may be done tomorrow.  So, do not become discouraged if you find a website that is no longer working.... this happens.  Part of the world in which we live.

With each chapter you should "take the virtual fieldtrips" so that you can create a visual image of the region of the world you are studying.  What in the picture "tells you" that this picture was taken..... here or ...... there?  This might be an excellent part of the final exam:  by looking at pictures, what part of the world is being presented in the picture?  What are the visual cues to where the picture was taken?
